Match returns – Last chance to get it right!
Teams have an obligation when they join the league to complete match returns after every game. This can be done by the manager or any parent within the team using the managers log in to full-time.
This week there were a staggering 227 teams who either didn’t submit a return or submitted an incomplete match return despite the necessity being repeatedly highlighted in these weekly Updates.

DON’T USE MATCHDAY APP TO COMPLETE THEM. IT’S NOT AN ACCEPTABLE FORM OF SUBMISSION TO THE LEAGUE

As per the rules voted in at the AGM, fines will be issued to every team that does not submit a completed match return for a YEL organised game. Fines start at £5 for the first game, increasing to £10 for the next, then £20 for the next and any subsequent games thereafter. Any team that has two match returns outstanding will have their fixtures suspended until these are brought up to date and the fines are paid.

U7s & U8s meeting – removal of heading pilot

There is a to be a joint YEL/Notts FA online meeting on Tuesday 27th September at 7pm for all U7 & U8 coaches to discuss the upcoming removal of heading pilot from all YEL U7 & U8 games which is due to start from October 1st. All team contacts listed on Scoreline will have received a link to the meeting. Club secretaries will U7/U8 teams will also receive the link. If you haven’t had the email/link please email the YEL Office – yel@live.co.uk yel@live.co.uk – to advise us so we can update Full-Time.

Team sheets & ID checks

As we are in the early days of September we appreciate people are getting used to the return to football. In light of this we have been very lenient and not issued any fines for not completing ID checks or giving team sheets to the official referees.

Our referees are required to complete reports on every YEL game they officiate so we are very disappointed to see a number of teams continuing to fail to do ID checks/provide team sheets despite this being a League Rule/Regulation, voted in at the AGM. There is no excuse for this as the need for ID checks and team sheets has been heavily promoted in the weeks leading up to the season start date.

Our role, as league administrators, is to apply the rules as approved. Please be aware that fines for not adhering to the League Rules/Regulations will start to be issued shortly. Those teams that have not been doing this will know who they are. Please do not be surprised if your Treasurer/Club secretary makes contact having received a fine asking the question why the rules are not being followed.

SMS text results

By now all team contacts on Scoreline should be receiving SMS texts during the game in order to report the score.

If you did not receive an SMS text and are the team admin responsible for reporting the score, you should, by now, have emailed the YEL Office – yel@live.co.uk – to advise us so we can update Full-Time.

As per League Rules/Regulations, scores must be reported to the league within 4 hours of the listed KO time on Full-Time. Any team that doesn’t will receive a sanction.

Referees appointed by the league must take priority

TWO POINTS – 1. The Referees appointments role in the YEL is a very demanding job given the number of referees available. Sarah – YEL Referees appointments – allocates referees 7-10 days before the game. It is essential that all KO times and venues are correct on Full-Time by this time. Where possible, she gives referees a double game ie 10am mini soccer followed by 11am 9v9/11v11. It is incredibly frustrating when teams try and change games after referees have been appointed. Please work a minimum of 10-14 days in advance.

2. Until Wednesday evening, officially appointed referees ALWAYS take priority over any referee that a team may have found themselves (unless they have notified Sarah at least seven days before the game of the name of the teams’ own referee) If, by Wednesday evening, teams have not been notified about a referee, then they are encouraged to locate and appoint their own referee. No problem to have a referee on standby however, they must not be confirmed until Wednesday evening.

Any team that refuses to accept/cancels the officially appointed referee will be referred to the YEL Discipline Team where they are highly likely to be fined for ‘failing to follow a management instruction’ with the fine being paid to the official referee in compensation.
