Return to football from March 29th – FA Guidance
We are sure that everyone will be delighted that grassroots football will be returning from Monday 29th March. The long awaited FA Guidance is now out (Full details YELonline.com). The key points which every club must be aware of and follow are:
- A full COVID-19 Risk assessment of the facilities and for individual teams should be carried out prior to recommencing football activities
- Clubhouses and changing facilities MUST remain shut
- All previous COVID-19 checks and requirements which were in place prior to the cessation of football must still be implemented including test and trace, individual sanitisers for players, sanitising procedures, checks on player well being prior to engaging on football activities, observance of social distancing etc
- No spectators are allowed at games apart from one parent/carer per player – managers and coaches do not count as a parent/carer as they are there is an official training/matchday capacity
- Toilet facilities can be opened 30 mins before football starts and up to 30 mins after football has finished
- Takeaway food, soft drinks and confectionery can be served but not consumed adjacent to the outlet ie on a clubhouse patio
It is in everyone’s interest that these key points plus the others within the guidance are followed to ensure that football can return safely. If anyone sees any blatant disregard of the guidance, please report it to the Club COVID-19 Officer who should then pass it on to the relevant authorities copying in the County FA and the league.
Kick Off times
We appreciate it is a long time since we have played football BUT to ensure that everything now runs smoothly for the rest of the season from a football point of view, can we please remind everyone that KO times and pitch availability should be checked a minimum of 10 DAYS prior to the day of the game. Up to 10 days prior to the game, the home time has control of kick off times – see YEL Regulations for full details. Once inside the 10 day deadline, teams can only change kick off times with the agreement of the opposition, any appointed referee and the league. Please ensure that this is adhered to as this assists with the smooth running of the league. If you don’t, expect there to be consequences if agreement is not reached ie possibly the game being reversed to the opposition’s ground or to have to find another venue to ensure the game is played at the default kick off time or potentially other sanctions from the YEL Discipline Team. Failure to plan will be planning to fail!

Player registrations for 2021/22 season
No doubt many of you will be aware of this change but just in case you haven’t seen it, The FA have introduced a new player registration system for 2021/22 season. They have now made it a mandatory requirement that all players have a linked parent/carer account otherwise they will not be allowed to register and therefore play football. This change is being implemented by The FA so if you have any questions around how it works, why it is necessary etc then please address them to your county FA who will be able to assist.
