Pre season checklist

Are all of your players registered? If not, you have just 7 days before the start of the season and they CAN’T PLAY in any YEL organised game without being registered.

Have you logged into Scoreline yet? Mandatory before you will be permitted to play football in the YEL.
https://yelscorelineportal.com/

Have you logged into FA Full-Time? The main team contact will need to do this in order to receive information about fixtures (ref appointments for U9s upwards)

Have you checked you fixtures – KO times and venue are correct. Remember any amendments must be emailed to the YEL Office – yel@live.co.uk – for us to update Full-Time. Don’t forget the 10 day rule ie if KO time is changed INSIDE 10 days of the game, the opposition, any appointed referee AND the YEL Office must be in agreement.

Have you downloaded your squad list yet from Whole Game System so you can complete the mandatory pre match ID checks with the opposition manager? If unsure how to do it

Any questions or issues around these basic and very necessary requirements check the ‘Basic Guide to weekly team administration’ (below) or if this doesn’t answer your query, email yel@live.co.uk and remember to add your team name, age group and playing day so we can deal with your enquiry.

IMPORTANT: Scoreline update

Thank you for your patience while we completed the recent upgrade to Scoreline. This upgrade has been completed and you can now access Scoreline at https://portal.yelscoreline.com

This change required updates to the platform security and you will need to reset your password to access Scoreline. To do this, please follow these steps:

2. Once you have entered this and clicked the button to confirm, you will be automatically sent an email containing a reset link.

3. Click on the link in the email and enter your new password.

Please allow up to 30 MINUTES for your email to arrive and check your junk/spam folders. If you have still not received an email after 30 minutes, please contact support@yelscoreline.com to request a manual password reset.

Friendly games at the start of September

We have 1450 teams starting the season. Kev Cooper, YEL Fixtures & Events, takes great pride in ensuring teams are appropriately placed in ability based divisions and development groups. 99% of the time we are certain that the groupings are correct. These early season friendlies are designed to confirm these placements. We will look at scores in the first two weeks for U11 to U14 and only in exceptional circumstances will we consider changes, and on then if swaps can be found.

Basic guide to running a YEL Team

A really useful guide for coaches and club secretaries to understand what is required by the YEL in order for the league to run smoothly.

Download a copy here or go to YELonline.com and click on the ‘Useful information for managers/coaches’ section on the home page.

Appointing referees to games

The YEL does not appoint referees to U7 or U8 games (5v5) – It is up to the home teams to organise a coach or willing parent to officiate these games.

It’s our aim to appoint referees to all games U9 and upwards. At the start of the season there are always a few weeks where a number of games are not covered as we are waiting for referees to register with the County FA/YEL. Even when they are registered, there will be some games we are unable to cover. It is good practice for home teams to have someone on standby to step in – coach, club official or willing parent – just in case you receive a Full-Time notification for your game with a referee status of ‘none’ on a Thursday morning.

Referee appointments for games at the start of the season will be made in the next 48 hours so watch out for notifications about your match. Again home teams should consult the basic guide above for what needs to be done when it comes through.

No heading pilot continues for U7,U8s & U9s

REMINDER: The YEL has agreed to continue with the FA trial to remove heading from children’s football for a second. This will cover U7s to U9s. Most of the players will already have been doing this from last year but the NEW U7 coaches will need to educate their players during training and matches to ensure they are aware and do not head the ball as this will result in an indirect free kick to the opposition. We would welcome feedback from coaches both positive and negative – with examples to back up the comments – which we can pass on to The FA. Visit Scoreline and select the menu item ‘Feedback’ from the left hand menu.
