Abuse, YOU lose – That’s guaranteed! UPDATE
They say good things come in threes. This is the third week of the ‘Abuse, YOU lose’ campaign and so far, so good. Thanks go to all club officials and managers that have got the message out there on behalf of the league and the referees. You have all contributed to help make this a third consecutive week of no issues with referee abuse. For those of you that haven’t done it, the message to adults is simple; Referees (especially those wearing purple shirts) are still learning and will make mistakes, just like the players. Don’t criticise them or abuse them, accept it – take the rough with the smooth. Any development points need to be made direct to the league – we welcome all feedback – NOT to the referee. It is not managers/spectators jobs to educate/develop referees – leave that to the league and the CFA. If you don’t and the team is reported for abusing a referee,  you will NOT be appointed a referee for the next two home games and it is highly likely the team will be referred to the YEL Respect Team and highly likely it will receive the first of three warnings which ultimately can lead to an SGM before the membership to consider removal from the league. None of us want to go anywhere near that. Please continue to respond positively and support referees just as you support the players as they develop.

Player ID checks – sharing by email
We have received reports that some teams have been sending/emailing player ID sheets to the opposition manager prior to the game. This practice CANNOT continue. This is a breach of GDPR as the permission is very unlikely to have been given by the parent/carer and also has wider, more serious implications of distributing images of children. Notts FA are aware of this and have asked us to make it clear that player ID sheets should not be swapped on a permanent basis in any form. If hard copies, they are shown on the day prior to the game and then returned to the manager.

 Positive Graffiti Wall
CELEBRATING YEL TEAMS WITH NEW ‘POSITIVE GRAFFITI WALL’ – Sadly, there are a few incidents of headline grabbing poor behaviour around. The vast majority of our teams and players however enjoy their football and have positive memories week in, week out. We’ll be sharing some of these positive messages which are lifted straight from the match returns completed by the YEL managers. Got some positives about your opposition – players, parents, managers? Make a comment on the match return. Keep it short and it too could feature on the ‘Positive Graffiti Wall.’ The wall will appear on YELonline.com and will be regularly updated.
