Reminder – This is Remembrance weekend
Reminder to everyone that this is remembrance weekend. We would encourage everyone who wishes to, to hold a minute’s applause/silence prior to their games over the weekend to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country safe and allow us the freedom to live our lives in the way we wish to. Please discuss with you opposition manager and any appointed referee how you wish to pay your respects. This is, as always, optional.
Incorrectly completed match returns attract fines
A small selection of coaches are still completing the players statistics section of the Full-Time match returns incorrectly.
Below is a list of common errors:
All players in attendance listed in the ‘starters’ column
All players listed in the ‘Unused bench’ column (see image – actual match return submitted by one team!)
Players listed in both the ‘starters’ AND ‘bench’ column (if they started they shouldn’t be listed on the bench as well and vice versa)
Players listed in the ‘unused bench’ column (some teams are listing all of their squad even if they weren’t at the game as ‘unused bench’ – you only list the players who were involved in the game on the day in either starters or bench used.)
If in doubt, please read the guidance in the ‘Basic guide to running a YEL team’ https://yelonline.com/managers-and-coaches-useful-information
SECRETARIES – England Accreditation is open
England Accreditation opened on November 1st. We appreciate it’s a long time until March (deadline) however it’s worth starting to make sure everything is in order sooner rather than later. Remember the YEL is an England Accredited league. Our League Regulations, (Reg 1) states that to be a member of the YEL you must hold be an England Football Accredited club. For existing clubs to be a readmitted/new clubs accepted as members of the YEL for season 2025-26, clubs need to be England Accredited.
Start the process now to ensure all of your coaches have the necessary qualifications. If not, then please get onto the process ASAP as some online courses, specifically Introduction to coaching, get filled up quickly and you may find they have no availability closer to the deadline.
If you are unsure what needs to be done, please contact your local CFA.
Compliance checks – Coach 1 & Coach 2
Following on from the piece of work that we started just before the beginning of the season, we are pleased to report that over 90% of our teams are fully compliant with the two coach requirement. A big thank you to those clubs who have worked to make this safeguarding requirement happen not only from the league but also from Nottinghamshire FA.
Sadly there are still some teams who are not compliant. One club has already had their fixtures suspended since the start of the season as none of their teams are compliant. Their fixtures will remain suspended until they become compliant.
Clubs/teams who are not compliant will have received an email from YEL Safeguarding detailing what is required. Please note that non compliant teams will not start the Spring season until they become compliant as their fixtures will be suspended. The deadline is 30th November to become compliant as the Spring Season fixtures/divisions will be created at the beginning of December and you will either be in or out at that stage. If there are any issues with meeting this deadline, you should email safeguarding@yelonline.com and we will see if we can work with you. We do not want to stop children playing football however we all have a responsibility to ensure they are playing in as safe an environment as possible. Please do not ignore the emails from the Safeguarding team. We are working with Nottinghamshire FA on this and they have significantly more severe measures available to them including club wide suspensions.
YEL Office email address is changing!
office@yelonline.com will be closing down over the next few weeks. It has been replaced with a brand new YEL Office email address:
