Play Off games

As the winter season comes to an end, there are a number of teams in that could be a joint champions or joint runners up. Where possible Play off games will be organised to decide on the final positions.

Reminder of the play off rules – League Regulation 18:
(i)The league reserves the right to arrange play off games at the end of each season for any U9 teams upwards who finish a league in joint position for Champions or Runners Up.
(ii)The match will be played at the ground of the original away team if a neutral venue is not provided.
(iii)If the play off involves three teams in a three way play off, the league will decide on the venue based on home matches played.
(iv) Unless notified by the league, play off matches will be played over the standard time period for the age group.
(v) Should the scores be level at the end of the normal period of play, the result will be a draw and the league position will be shared – ie Joint Champions or Joint Runners Up.
(vi) THERE WILL BE NO EXTRA TIME OR TAKING OF PENALTIES TO DECIDE A ‘WINNER’
(vii) NOTE: Shared Runners Up does not automatically guarantee promotion for both/all teams on equal points.

Celebrating with flares/pyrotechnics

Unfortunately we have received information concerning some adults celebrating their teams’ successes with flares/pyrotechnics – even, in one instance, giving them to children. By all means celebrate the success with the players but we would strongly request that you do not use flares/pyrotechnics around young children. They burn at incredibly high temperatures and a slight accident could cause life changing injuries/burns to innocent bystanders which they will have to live with for the rest of their lives.

Games cancelled this weekend due to weather

We’re hoping as many games as possible are played this weekend to complete the U9-U14 winter season/start the cup competitions. YEL Fixtures Team will be working over the weekend to ensure that important postponed matches affecting champions/runners up positions are rearranged to next week – Cup games will also be rescheduled. League games that do not affect the top positions are more than likely to be voided. We will try to complete the task as soon as possible however we’ll then need to appoint referees. As a result, referee appointments may not come out until Mon evening.

Teams using Southglade Park, Nottingham venue – Vandalism to vehicles

We have received the following email:

Good afternoon,

It’s been reported that many vehicles are being deliberately damaged whilst at southglade when parking on ridgeway. Please can you put out a warning to all teams of acts of vandalism to cars whilst at football.

Cancelling fixtures from December 1st onwards

Reminder of the League Regulation 14

Postponement of a Winter season fixture – When a home team cancels a Winter league fixture, the YEL reserves the right to reverse the fixture, should it be rearranged. First cancellations will cease to be available from December 1st. Any match cancelled from December 1st onwards will be treated as an on the day cancellation
