Cancelling fixtures from December 1st onwards

Reminder of the League Regulation 14

Postponement of a Winter season fixture – When a home team cancels a Winter league fixture, the YEL reserves the right to reverse the fixture, should it be rearranged. First cancellations will cease to be available from December 1st. Any match cancelled from December 1st onwards will be treated as an on the day cancellation

No free weekends

We are occasionally asked if a team can have a free weekend or block out a date. Unfortunately it is not possible to have ‘free weekends’ during the season due to having a winter and spring league. Due to the number of teams in the league and the limited number of weeks available to complete the fixture programme, teams need to be available every weekend. Teams can, of course, use a first cancellation during each of the seasons where a small fine will be applied dependent on the nature of the cancellation. The game will then be rescheduled.

Play Offs …are coming

As the winter season comes to an end, there are a number of teams in that could be a joint champions or joint runners up. Where possible Play off games will be organised to decide on the final positions over the coming weekends.

Reminder of the play off rules – League Regulation 18:
(i)The league reserves the right to arrange play off games at the end of each season for any U9 teams upwards who finish a league in joint position for Champions or Runners Up
(ii)The match will be played at the ground of the original away team if a neutral venue is not provided.
(iii)If the play off involves three teams in a three way play off, the league will decide on the venue based on home matches played.
(iv) Unless notified by the league, play off matches will be played over the standard time period for the age group.
(v) Should the scores be level at the end of the normal period of play, the result will be a draw and the league position will be shared – ie Joint Champions or Joint Runners Up.
(vi) THERE WILL BE NO EXTRA TIME OR TAKING OF PENALTIES TO DECIDE A ‘WINNER’
(vii) NOTE: Shared Runners Up does not automatically guarantee promotion for both/all
teams on equal points.

Last chance for new U7 & U8 teams to join

December 10th will be the closing date for applications to be received from new U7 & U8 teams for this season. These teams will have fixtures arranged in the development groups from the beginning of January 2025. Applications must be from existing member clubs. Club Secretaries need to log into Scoreline. Select the ‘Clubs/Teams/Contacts’ option from the main menu and choose ‘My Clubs’ scroll down to the ‘Teams within Club’ card and click on ‘Add Team’. Complete the required fields and click save. Repeat for each team being entered.
