SMS Text – how to report scores

Scores should be submitted straight away (max 3 hours after the advertised kick off time on Full-Time)

DO NOT enter half time score

DO NOT do live goals on matchday app

AGREE FINAL SCORE WITH OPPOSITION before texting the result by SMS

Only report the score via SMS text (nothing else)

If you do not receive the SMS text, email the YEL Office with your team name, age group and playing day – yel@live.co.uk – (club will need to ensure your details are in WGS with a mobile number)

Last week 50 result errors which all had to be checked manually!

CORRECT WAYS TO REPORT A SCORE BY SMS TEXT – just the score or short codes with score and hyphen (NOT ‘v’) MUST BE HOME TEAM SCORE FIRST, THEN AWAY TEAM SCORE

Mp10 3-1 ey17

EXAMPLES OF TEXTS CREATING ERROR MESSAGES (DO NOT USE ANY OF THESE STYLES)

H 3 – 1 A
H 2 – A 3
H – A 0 – 2
3v0

Stay off the pitch!

Seriously cannot believe we are having to write this and explain this in such basic terms and pictorially. Apologies in advance to those managers/coaches who know and abide by the rules and stay off the pitch during the game.

To be very clear, no one other than the players and referee can cross the white line on the edge of the pitch. The only exception to this is if there is an injury and the referee invites you onto the pitch. Other than that, stay off!

There is absolutely no reason as to why any coaches/managers feel they have the right to stand, sometimes up to 3m, onto the pitch. You don’t! Stay off! You are not an active participant in the game.

Match Returns – completely separate to SMS text result – BOTH need completing

We are now into the new season and all teams should be completing match returns on Full-Time. Notice has been given to everyone in these weekly Updates and in the weekly incomplete match reports emails that come out from the league.

If you are still unsure if you are completing them correctly, read the step by step ‘Basic guide to running a YEL Team’ found in the Useful information for coaches section on YELonline.com

https://yelonline.com/managers-and-coaches-useful-information/

DO make sure you complete the match return by logging into Full-Time

DO make sure you complete all sections

DO make sure you ONLY list the players who started in the ‘started’ section; list the players who started as subs and came on in the ‘subs used section’ (There should be no entries in the ‘subs unused’ section as all children who attend games should play at some stage)

DO ensure the return is completed within 24 hours of the advertised kick off time (League Regulation 3C)

DO NOT use MatchDay app to complete your match return. It’s poor reliability is well known and has been widely advertised by the YEL. We’ll not accept this as a valid reason for an incomplete match return

Maximum number of substitutes at YEL games

Can we remind all teams of the rules. This is not the Premier League – you can’t take more than the maximum number specified below. This rule applies to ALL YEL organised matches – Friendly, League and Cup games. Teams reported for using more than the max no. of subs will be referred to YEL Discipline

U7/U8 – 5 substitutes
U9/U10 – 7 substitutes
U11/U12 – 5 substitutes
U13/U14 – 5 substitutes

Team sheets & ID checks

As we are in the early days of September we appreciate people are getting used to the return to football. In light of this we have been very lenient and not issued any fines for not completing ID checks or giving team sheets to the official referees.

Team sheets have to be given to the referee before the start of the game IF there is an officially appointed YEL referee.

Our referees are required to complete reports on every YEL game they officiate so we will know if teams have failed to do ID checks/provide team sheets. This is a League Rule/Regulation, voted in at the AGM. There is no excuse for this as the need for ID checks and team sheets has been heavily advertised in the weeks leading up to the season start date.

Our role, as league administrators, is to apply the rules as approved. Please be aware that fines for not adhering to the League Rules/Regulations will start to be issued shortly. Those teams that have not been doing this will know who they are. Please do not be surprised if your Treasurer/Club secretary makes contact having received a fine asking the question why the rules are not being followed.

EXPLANATION OF HOW AN ID CHECK IS DONE – At the game, you should have your printed ID sheet of players/photos downloaded from Whole Game System. Before the match, go to your opposition manager and exchange sheets. Call in the players from both teams. Call out the names of the opposition players on the sheet in front of you whilst the opposition manger does the same for your players. Exchange sheets back. If any players are not on the list THEY CANNOT PLAY as the are not league registered. This applies to YEL organised friendlies, league matches and cup games. Any issues, call the YEL Hotline – number at the bottom of the Update
