YEL Update – 5th December 2025

Here are the SEVEN YEL updates for this week:

  • Under 15s
  • YEL Directors
  • SGM
  • Staff Thank You
  • Fixture Update
  • YEL Volunteer Workforce
  • Sponsorship

Under 15s

We understand this was mentioned at this weeks Notts Youth League meeting. As we have 5 new Board members, it is sensible that the YEL  concentrate on strengthening our current age group structures. We will not be expanding into any new age groups  for the 2026/27 season.

YEL Directors

We are delighted to confirm 2 more YEL Directors. The latest recruits both applied in October.

Andrew Fowler will represent Referees on the board with the focus on growth, education and retention of referees.

We also have a new Finance Director, Simon Burrows, who will look after budgets and spreadsheets.

Andrew has done 10 years with Long Eaton United before taking up the whistle and was YEL 11v11 Referee of the Year for 2025.

Simon is an active Team Manager for Muskham Cougars u9s and works in Finance.

We understand its early days with the new structure, but 7 individuals with diverse skills, experience and backgrounds, who will have an equal voice around the table to drive the league forward makes for an exciting future for the YEL.

SGM not needed

Our ethos will be fines as a very last resort, prefer to threaten no game than take money out of grassroots clubs. Simon at Notts FA has confirmed that our rules do NOT need changing to implement a softer approach on administration. From 1 January NO match report fines and NO cancellation fines, implementing the rules stated in the document sent out last week. This will save club money and free up staff admin time, but we do expect teams to complete tasks and will be chasing them for completion (but people are allowed a mistake)

Staff Thank you

Its been a whirlwind couple of weeks at the busiest time of the season, with added pressures of bad weather and staff shortages. We have lost 90 hours of staffing this week compared to normal, but our team of myself, John, Serena, Karen & Sophie have worked tirelessly to ensure all teams and Refs have matches at the weekend…well done to them all.

Next week we are depleted further with John off to the states to meet his Grand daughter and I am hoping to work a bit less from Tenerife, but will have my laptop.

Please be patient when sending emails and awaiting a reply, please only email once and include Full Team info.

Fixture Update

Priority this weekend please to league games , only changes to 13/14 Dec will be postponed league matches or Play Off matches. Cup games will be rescheduled for 10/11 January

For the January Fixtures u9 and u10 have already been added, but we aware need changing for Cup matches and YEL Awards. The u7 and u8 will be announced  next week, with u11s to u14s by Wednesday 17th December latest.
