YEL Update – 24th April

Here are the FIVE YEL updates for this week:

  • 🔔 Season Entries – 2026/27
  • 🏆 Cup Semi Finals & Finals
  • 👏 Club Shout Out – Gonerby Youth FC

As we head into the final stages of the season, we just want to take a moment to thank everyone involved across the league. From players and coaches to volunteers and referees, it’s been another fantastic year of grassroots football, and your continued support is what makes it all possible.

🔔 Season Entries – 2026/27

A reminder to all clubs to please submit your club and team entries for next season. Planning is already underway, so getting these in early really helps us shape the league for 2026/27.

🏆 Cup Semi Finals & Finals

As we move into the latter stages of the Cup competitions, please take a moment to familiarise yourselves with the Cup Rules for 2025/26 ahead of your fixtures.

👏 Club Shout Out – Gonerby Youth FC

Following a recent fixture, we wanted to highlight a great example of what grassroots football should look like.

This message was shared by Winthorpe & Coddington Tigers U9 Black:

“The match this morning was played in a fantastic spirit, despite the high stakes, and your players were a real credit to the club.

We also wanted to acknowledge your gesture at the end of the game -giving our boys a round of applause despite the result and the title outcome showed real class from you and your players. It didn’t go unnoticed and was hugely appreciated by the coaches, players and parents.”

A brilliant example of respect, sportsmanship and creating the right environment for young players. This is what it’s all about 👏

🟡 End of Season – Referee Thank You

As we approach the end of the season, we want to recognise all of our referees.

For some, this will be their final few games before moving on to university or the next stage in their journey. For others, you have supported the league consistently over many seasons.

We understand refereeing can be challenging at times, but it is an essential and valued role within the game.

A special mention to those who continue week in, week out. The perseverance, resilience and commitment it takes does not go unnoticed.

You may not always feel appreciated in the moment, but please know: The game does not happen without you.

Thank you for everything you have done this season and continue to do 👏

📲 Club Welfare Officer & Club Secretary WhatsApp Groups

A reminder that our Club Welfare Officer and Club Secretary WhatsApp groups are key channels for sharing important updates and information throughout the season.

If you are not yet part of the relevant group, please email office@yelonline.com with your name, role and contact number:

  • FAO Julie – Club Secretaries
  • FAO Tiffany – Club Welfare Officers

These groups help us keep communication quick, clear and supportive across the league, so we’d strongly encourage all clubs to ensure the right contacts are included.

As we head into the final weekend of league fixtures, remember what it’s all about – children enjoying the game, learning and creating memories with their teammates.

“The secret is to believe in your dreams, enjoy the game, and have fun.” – Ronaldinho

Good luck to everyone this weekend ⚽👏
