YEL Update – 20th February 2026

Here are the FIVE updates for this week:

  • 🗓️ REMINDER – Transfer Deadline 16 March
  • 🔁 Player Transfer Process – Important Update
  • 📆 Holding Dates – Postponed Fixtures
  • 💼 Finance Update
  • 🏆 Cup Games Reminder

🗓️ REMINDER – Transfer Deadline 16th March

Just a reminder (following last week’s update) that the player transfer deadline for submissions is 16th March.

If you’re considering any transfers, please try to start the process in good time so everything can be completed smoothly before the deadline.

🔁 Player Transfer Process – Important Update

To keep things consistent across the league, here’s a clear reminder of the steps:

  1. The joining club secretary emails the leaving club secretary to issue a 7-day Notice of Approach (NOA).

  2. The leaving club can choose to waive the 7 days if appropriate (for example, kit or equipment may need to be returned). Please note this cannot be withheld for financial reasons.

  3. If not waived, the player can be submitted via the portal on day 8. If waived, submission can happen earlier.

  4. For approval, please email the league office with either:

    • A copy of the agreed waiver, or

    • A copy of the Notice of Approach email so we can confirm the 7-day period has passed.

If you’re unsure at any stage, just drop us a message at office@yelonline.com and we’ll guide you through it.

📆 Holding Dates – Postponed Fixtures

You may notice postponed fixtures showing 31st May as a holding date.

This is simply a placeholder in the system — it avoids fixtures being deleted and recreated. Our intention remains for the season to finish in early/mid May, and we’ll continue to work with clubs to achieve that.

💼 Finance Update

Many of you have welcomed the move away from fines for minor or trivial breaches. The aim is simple — to allow clubs to focus their resources on coaching, development and supporting players.

There are no plans to reintroduce those minor fines moving forward.

We do, however, ask that any fines issued before 31 December 2025 are now settled. A number of clubs have already done so, and drawing a line under previous arrangements allows us to move forward together on a clear and consistent footing.

Thank you for your cooperation with this.

🏆 Cup Games Reminder

A quick reminder that cup competition rules are available on yelonline.com.

Once set:

  • Cup fixture dates cannot be changed
  • Kick-off times and venues cannot be changed within 10 days of the fixture (to allow referee allocations to be managed properly)

A bit of forward planning really helps everyone involved — particularly referees and opposition clubs.

Thank you again for everything you are doing to support your players and the wider YEL community as we head into the final stretch of the season.
