Coach 1 & Coach 2 checks – UPDATE

We’re nearing the end of our mid season checks against FA systems to ensure all teams are compliant ie have two coaches that meet The FA and league requirements to attend training/organised matches.

We are expecting to be able to send the completed document to the CFAs in the next seven to ten days for verification. Nottinghamshire FA have already indicated they, like us, take Safeguarding very seriously and the consequences for non-compliant teams could be very serious. Most of our clubs have a ‘clean bill of health’. Those that don’t have been sent details of any issues. We urge you to take action and address these before the CFA get involved.

The requirements were very clearly advertised prior to, and in the early part of, the start of the season and should be in place. The league regulations can be found by clicking the link below (League regulation 1)

Emails have been sent by the league to Club Secretaries and Club Welfare Officers on 16/10 & 17/10. If you have received an email from us, please act now – Don’t wait for the County FA email.

YEL Respect on Scoreline – how it works

We’ve had a few questions around why ‘access is denied’ comes up when Club Officials are trying to access a Respect case on Scoreline.

The Scoreline Respect system is set up so clubs can see on their club dashboard two sections for Respect – ‘Reporting teams’ where they have raised a respect case and ‘Reported teams’ where another club has raised a respect case against one of their teams.

Reporting team

When a club clicks on the case, club officials can see the case information that they have reported/added to the system when they have raised it. They do not see the response from the team they have reported or any notes that the YEL Respect team make. They may be asked further questions by the YEL Respect team based on the response from the team they have reported. They are updated when the case has been investigated by the league or the CFA, and an outcome is sent to them.

Reported team

The reported club’s officials do not have access to the case raised against them. This section is for information only that an issue has been raised against one of their teams. The club secretary and Club Welfare Officer will be emailed by the League Welfare Officer/Respect team alerting them to a report against one of their teams. They will be asked to contact the manager on the day for their general observations around the game and particular incidents may be referenced in order that they can provide their version of the events. Follow up questions from the league/County FA may be asked based on the information provided. It is for the league/County FA to take an objective and independent view.

Scoreline is designed like this so that the matter doesn’t escalate into a slanging match between the teams, coaches, parents, referees etc. Again, once the investigations by the league are complete (often running alongside a County FA investigation), the league will make a decision, taking into account – but not reliant upon – the result of any CFA investigation, should it have been escalated to them. This could involve a change in the Respect traffic light status for team/s and also additional recommendations from the league or sanctions from the County FA.

YEL Community Fund

All YEL clubs are eligible to apply to the YEL Community fund for a grant. Clubs can apply for a grant of up to £250 as many times as they wish but can only be successful once during the course of the season due to the size of fund that’s available. Grants can be for any number of different projects from supporting coaches getting their FA qualifications through to club wide development projects. Struggling with getting referees? Why not apply for a grant to support a couple of your older players through a referee course? Applications for Period 2 close on 30th November and can be made via Scoreline. Simply select YEL Community from the left hand menu and follow the instructions. Applications can only be made by Club Officials, so, if you’re a manager and have a project in mind, speak to your club secretary and get your application in now.

Leaving litter is not acceptable

Can we please remind teams/parents that it is courteous to ensure you take away or bin all your empty water bottles, food wrappers etc and leave the pitch as you found it. We’d all moan if we arrived a play a game on a pitch strewn with litter. Please play your part by setting the right example and keep our pitches and the surrounding areas free from litter.

UPDATE -Applications to join the YEL Board

We have been overwhelmed by not only the number of applications received but also the amazing quality of the submissions from people. It is heartwarming and demonstrates to us that the league is held in very high regard.

In light of the volume of applications, it is taking long than anticipated to draw up a short list of applicants to be invited for interview. For all those who have applied, please bear with us.
