YEL Update – 16th January 2026

Here are the FIVE YEL updates for this week:

  • YEL Awards Sold Out
  • Weather
  • YEL Cup
  • Duplicate Fixtures
  • Cancellation Rules

YEL Awards Sold Out

Thank you to all the teams that have committed and paid to attend the YEL Awards in February. We have a record number of teams for the Royal Concert Hall on 7th and 8th February, with 40 x under 14s having a separate event at The Nest, Notts County FC on Sun 15th February.

Weather

The Weather has now been causing issues for a couple of months, with so many matches being postponed or cancelled at younger age groups.

Frustrating that a handful of teams failed to complete the Winter season. We are now trying to get the 70 Cup competitions down towards the semi final stages and our Referees are being allocated with no match at the end of the week.

YEL Cup

At u11 to u14 we are trying to give 2 weeks notice on re arranging postponed Cup matches, so the league schedule not disrupted last minute, but also conscious some Cup matches are 2 rounds behind the rest.

At u9 & u10 we trying to play the Cup matches before Half Term and avoid YEL awards, so these will now be the following week if postponed, with a few new friendlies arranged for effected teams.

A reminder of the CUP TIED player rule, be careful if you have signed a player from another team. If a player has already played in, for example, any u14 Sat Cup competition for Team A, then they are not allowed to play for Team B after transfer. Every season at least one team is removed from the Cups due to cup Tied players, please know the rules.

Duplicate Fixtures

Due to the need to move Cup matches to new dates, this creates Duplicate fixtures with teams having 2 matches on the same day. Can we ask that teams wait 24 hours before reporting this, we get emails straight away when we are still in the middle of updating fixtures. We are also using 31 May as a holding date (u11 to u14) until we find a new date for a postponed league match, simply ignore until an earlier date is found.

YEL Awards

Those teams that have already been invited, please respond with player fee payments or an email to events@yelonline.com to confirm team does not wish to attend. We need to fully assess numbers and save some places for teams who complete the season this weekend. We also need to confirm options for u14s.

Cancellation Rules

A reminder we are no longer fining teams for Cancellations. But for all league cancellations one team must make the request to cancel and use the ‘Spring cancellation’ teams can’t just agree to play another day. Cup matches cannot be cancelled (other than weather related)

Contacting the YEL

As always any issues please email office@yelonline.com and quote Team Name and Age.

Thanks
