🗓️ Looking ahead to 2026 – 2027 season

Preparations are well underway for the 2026/27 season, and this is a really good time for clubs to start getting things in place behind the scenes.

A few simple things to keep in mind:

  • Making sure your club accreditation is up to date
  • Removing any leavers from the Club Portal
  • Starting to think about your team structures for next season

Nothing urgent – just small steps that will make things easier over the coming months.

💻 Updating your teams on Scoreline

From April 1st, Applications are now open for the 2026–27 season.

This window runs through to May 31st, so there’s plenty of time. Most clubs will naturally start to work through this in early May once plans are a bit clearer, so just pick this up when it works for you.

All teams are currently displayed in their 2025/26 age groups, and these will automatically roll forward by one year at midnight on May 31st / June 1st (for example U12 becomes U13). For any team choosing to play up (skipping an age group) then please remove the existing team and set up a new team with the correct 26/27 age group.

You’ll notice teams are currently shown in blue, which simply means no action has been taken yet.

✅ What you need to do

When you’re ready and have clarity on your teams:

  • Click on ‘confirm club checks completed’
  • You will have a view of current teams where you should see ‘confirm’ or ‘remove teams’
  • Select confirm if the team is continuing
  • Select remove if the team is not continuing

After saving:

  • Green = continuing
  • Red = not continuing
  • Only teams marked as confirmed will be entered into the league for next season.

A gentle reminder that current U14 teams should be marked as remove, as they’ve now reached the end of their YEL journey.

We’ll only raise invoices from June 1st, once we have a clear picture of which teams are continuing.

⚽ Younger age groups

Looking ahead, all U7 entries for the 2026/27 season will be playing in a 3v3 format.

This forms part of our ongoing development work at the youngest age groups, and we’ll share more detail in the coming weeks to support clubs with this transition.

🎓 FA FutureFit Workshop

FutureFit Branding – New Plans From The FA In England for grassroots youth football
The FA are continuing to support the grassroots network ahead of the upcoming youth football changes through their FutureFit Digital Conference series.

There is an upcoming online workshop on Monday 27th April 2026, which will cover a range of topics for grassroots coaches, including:

  • What changes are coming in 2026/27
  • Why these changes are being introduced
  • How coaches and clubs can prepare

It’s a really useful opportunity to hear directly from The FA and get ahead of the changes. You can book your space here: Coaches workshop
