YEL SGM RULE CHANGES
The YEL are calling an online SGM on Tuesday 16 December 8pm for Clubs to vote on several YEL Regulation changes to be effective from 1 January 2026 (if approved by clubs). (see attached document)
The proposed changes will see an end to Match Report Fines, no fines for Match Cancellations and similar rules to last season, removing the 7 day rule. Also, a rule change to give all teams freedom to play up a year if they wanted too.
NEW YEL BOARD MEMBERS
In accordance with section 48 of the YEL Constitution, we are delighted to confirm the appointment of three new Board members, co-opted until the end of the season.
JULIE LAZARUS
Julie is the Secretary of West Bridgford Colts — our largest club — and brings eight years of experience in that role. She joins the Board to support the League in acting in the best interests of all YEL clubs and teams.
RICHARD HIPKISS
Richard is the Chair of Clifton AW, our oldest club, and has over 30 years’ experience in local football. He also brings a strong business background as the largest provider of football pitches in the area (FSM).
TIFFANY IBALL
Tiffany is the Club Welfare Officer for Castle Donington FC and brings strong professional experience in HR Shared Services, leadership, and compliance. Tiffany will also support YEL social media activity and, like so many of our committed volunteers, she spends her weekends on the touchline cheering on her nine-year-old son playing in the YEL.
We hope to appoint two further co-opted Board members before the end of the year. This will give us a team of seven with a broad and balanced range of experience to review, strengthen, and support all areas of the YEL.
The YEL is now 70 years old. Over the decades, many people have contributed to its growth, and naturally there have been times of change and disagreement along the way. Last time we changed CEO seven years ago, we saw the resignation of both the League Chair and Treasurer within six months — a reminder that periods of transition are not new to the League.
We are going through a transitional phase again, and there may be bumps in the road, but we want to reassure everyone that our absolute commitment remains unchanged: football will continue to be delivered each week for the 20,000 children who play in the YEL.
YEL VOLUNTEER WORKFORCE
Over the past two weeks, we have received numerous messages of support from people offering to help the YEL — and we are extremely grateful.
The link below provides an opportunity for any YEL member who wishes to get more involved with the League. If you are interested, please complete the form. We will keep all submissions on file for 12 months and will contact you if volunteer support is needed.
YEL WINTER AWARDS
Congratulations to all teams that have finished the Winter Season as Champions or Runners Up, official email Invites to the Awards will be sent by Tuesday next week. We will contact u14s to discuss options later next week.
