YEL Update – 14th November 2025

This Update extra has TWO important messages this week, which we would ask you to please read.

  • Make this weekend one the players will remember
  • Silent support weekend – This weekend – November 15th/16th

Respect update and this weekend

This weekend hopefully sees the climax of many of our winter season divisions. There are a number of potential title deciders and we would ask that everyone continues to support the players and the referees in the right way.

Our army of Respect Field Officers (RFOs) will be out and about. There may well be one at your game in an undercover capacity, making sure the correct standards are being observed. They may or may not introduce themselves to you but either way, please make sure that the children play in an enjoyable environment – It’s their day!

Silent support weekend – November 15th/16th

This year’s ‘Silent Support Weekend’ takes place this coming weekend.

As a league, we are firmly committed to this event as it highlights that positive behaviour by all spectators/coaches creates a more enjoyable environment for the players and the referee.

A few points to note:

  • 7 in 10 people said Silent Support improves poor behaviour on the sidelines.
  • It helps young players to enjoy their game without distraction from the sidelines.
  • Silent Support is positive support. During Silent Support Weekend, applause from spectators for good play – and quiet instruction from coaches only – is welcome.
  • Noise, abuse, complaints and parent-coaching can all have the weekend off.
  • Spread the word throughout your clubs

The FA have created a new set of assets for your club to use. These focus on how well Silent Support works, showing results from our recent spectator and club survey. These assets are:

  • A Silent Support checklist for leagues to make sure you’re ready ahead of the weekend.
  • Posters to share with your clubs
  • Social media assets and messages
  • Whatsapp and email messages
  • A pack which all clubs should have already received – just in case you haven’t: https://we.tl/t-U4sOZ4jqZE
